My Ferrets
I recently, well 2009, decided to find some really friendly ferrets to breed for showing and pets..
I found exactly what I was looking for in Caerphilly, Wales in May of 2009. I travelled down and stayed overnight as it was a 6 hour drive just to get there.
When we got there we chose a lovely huge 1/2 angora silver jill, a small sandy jill and a big polecat mitt jill. On our way home the next day we popped into a friends and they also had some baby ferrets for rehoming. We came away from there with a beautiful dark silver jill and a gorgeous polecat mitt boy.
Unfortunately the polecat mitt jill from Wales proved to be a very nasty biter and had to be rehomed to a working home as I found it impossible to even get the others out of the hutch without her really biting hard.
The others are all fantastic little furries though.
I already had one jill before going to Wales so they became friends very quickly.
A few weeks later we were offered a really pretty dark polecat jill so we took her as well.
Throughout the Winter months the hob, (boy), and the jills (girls) lived happily in the same hutch but as spring was approaching I realised that it was time to seperate him from his 'harem' until the girls were old enough to breed.
I then went to see a breeder in Redcar and found the most cuddly little sandy boy to be my boys friend.
This making 7 ferrets altogether now.
As of 2011, June, we have 5 remaining ferrets having lost our lovely dark siver jill and the sandy hob to diabetes over the Xmas period.
